Open to all dogs, pedigree or crossbreed, young or old
Scentwork Training is a fun and extremely rewarding activity for your dog, no matter their age or physical ability. It makes an ideal sport for retired or disabled dogs as it is low-impact and only requires their sense of smell. We have several members whose dogs have been blind or deaf as well as ex-agility dogs who have all thrived with Scentwork Training. We’ve trained Pugs, Salukis and every breed in between. We hold occasional Scentwork Introduction Days where you can come along and take part and see what the classes and training are all about.
Providing enrichment and stimulation using your dogs' natural instincts and abilities is a great way to mentally and physically entertain and train them. As the name suggests, Scentwork is where the dog uses its highly sensitive sense of smell to locate and identify scents it has been trained to detect. Although we see dogs being trained in Scentwork to work with the Police Force, Armed Forces, search and rescue teams and other specialist agencies, Scentwork as a sport continues to grow in popularity amongst dog owners up and down the country.
Scentwork Training classes are there to teach you and your dog the foundations to progress towards trials and awards. Classes have multiple levels to train at and to progress to and are suitable for dogs with little to no experience or for seasoned sniffers. Whether you have a puppy, adolescent or adult, if they’re a rescue or if you’ve had them their entire life, a pedigree or a crossbreed, our Scentwork Training Classes are suitable for all.
